Things to do in the area

Polesden Lacey

This country retreat, only four miles from Dorking, has glorious views across the rolling Surrey Hills and acres of countryside to explore.  It was home to the famous Edwardian hostess Mrs Greville, who entertained royalty and the celebrities of her time. Marvel at the glittering gold Saloon designed to impress kings and maharajahs, or Mrs Greville's extensive collection of Dutch, Italian and British paintings, Chinese and European ceramics and fine French furniture. The gardens offer something for every season, including climbing roses which are at their best in June, a beautiful herbaceous border and a winter garden bursting with yellow aconites. The wider estate has four waymarked trails with plenty of space to let off steam on a walk through woodland or over rolling hills.

Denbies Wine Estate

Come and get a great insight in to wine production in the UK. Denbies is one of the largest wine producers in the UK.  Denbies wine now competes on an international level, including multiple gold awards for both sparkling and still wine production. Enjoy a whole host of wine related events and activities including 7 miles of public footpath which trail throughout the vineyard.

Box Hill Walking Routes

Box Hill is the perfect place to discover a family walk and explore the Surrey Hills. Forming part of the North Downs, Box Hill has views across the surrounding countryside. It's home to lots of wildlife and plants too, including the Adonis blue butterfly and bee orchid.

Why not try out one of their walks? There are lots of walks over the hill, which you can download, or collect on site. Whatever the weather and however much time you have, there'll be something for everyone to enjoy.
